April 28th Update for World Lithuanian Games

Hello everyone!

Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm for these world games! We know that there are many questions, and we are always working hard to get answers and share them with you.

1) Free Bus Transportation to/from Airport (All Requests to be submitted by May 1st)

Did you know that if you have booked flights to Lithuania into either Vilnius Airport or Kaunas Airport, the games are coordinating bus transportation from these airports to the games in Palanga? This is great and can save you from needing to rent a car!

The bus services are being made for flights arriving into Lithuania on Juy 2nd ONLY, and flights leaving Lithuania on July 7th ONLY.

If you are interested in this bus transit option, please let us know at info@ausra.net. We need this information submitted to the coordinators by May 1st, so please let us know ASAP if you require this service.

When emailing us, please let us know full flight info, including arrival and departure times, so we can send the info to the coordinators.

2) Save the Date to Meet with the Ambassador - June 2nd, 6:30pm

The Lithuanian Ambassador to Canada will be making a special visit to Ausra Sports Club on Monday, June 2nd at the Parish Hall.  We welcome all athletes to come by for a meet and greet session from 6:30-8:30pm.

3) Team Canada Uniform Information

We are creating a limited-edition red crewneck. All participating athletes will receive these sweaters in the sizes that were shared upon registration for the games.

4) Financial Compensation Update

The games will be subsidized 45 euros per athlete per day from July 2 to July 7 (5 nights).  Funds will be sent from the World Games to Ausra Sports Club following the games, and Aušra Sports Club will distribute the funds to participating Canadian athletes.

Lunch and dinner is no longer covered for athletes by The Lithuanian Ministry for Education, Culture, and Science from July 2-7 as the accommodation subsidization has been increased from 30 to 45 euros.

5)  Request for Gifts from MPs

As part of the spirit of international collaboration, it is traditional to share trinkets representative of home countries with fellow athletes. We are looking for items to be shared, including Canadian Flag pins, which can typically be sourced from your local MP.

The writs resume May 19th 2025. You can find your MP's contact info to correspond with them here https://www.ourcommons.ca/Members/en/search

Dear Hon. {INSERT NAME|,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to request your assistance in obtaining Canadian souvenirs to bring with me to Lithuania this July. {INERT NAME OF ATHLETE} will be participating in the World Lithuanian Games, competing in {INSERT SPORT}, and I would love to share some tokens of Canadian pride with the athletes, coaches, and spectators from around the world.

The World Lithuanian Games is an exciting and prestigious event, and it would mean a great deal to us to represent Canada and its diversity at this international gathering. If it would be possible for you to provide any Canadian-themed souvenirs, such as pins, flags, or small items that highlight our culture and heritage, it would be greatly appreciated. These items would be a wonderful way to showcase our country's spirit and to connect with fellow participants from various nations.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Your support would be invaluable to us as we prepare for this incredible opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you and hope for a positive response.  Congratulations on a successful election!

Warm regards,

{INSERT YOUR NAME}

6) Other Travel Information

We have been asked by the World Games coordinating committee to share the following information from The World Lithuanian Community (WLC). A strategy has been developed to strengthen Lithuania's national security by engaging Lithuanians worldwide in areas like public support, resource aid, and community care. This is a proactive initiative focused on unity and resilience.
